The City Halls & Old Fruit Market, Glasgow Situated within the Merchant City area of Glasgow, this 'A' listed 19th century building underwent an extensive refurbishment programme managed by main contractor HBG Construction starting 2004. The project carefully retained the unique features of both venues including the superb acoustics of The City Halls and the listed ironmongery and signage in The Old Fruit Market.
JCC’s involvement in this project was to carry out the structural and internal joiner work package's including the dry lining, doors, finishings, stage area, screens and numerous high quality reproduction mouldings.
Our experienced joiner's carefully refitted the high-level beautiful stained glass windows in addition to installing new windows to the exterior of these. The stage area was reformed, built in timber panelling to a new design including forming housing for the louvres at the rear and front of the stage area.
Our skilled workshop team successfully reproduced various mouldings and carvings to match the original features including manufacturing the specialist wall panelling and reproducing large feature doorways to exact original detail. This fit-out project has been delivered to a very high standard and indeed a huge success. |
